Call for Nominees, 2010 Election for USENIX Board of Directors

[Back to Current Board of Directors page]

The biennial election of USENIX's Board of Directors will be held in the spring of 2010. Newly elected directors will take office at the conclusion of the first regularly scheduled meeting following the election or on July 1, 2010, whichever comes earlier.

USENIX has eight Board members. Four are officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer) and four are Board members at large. All stand for election every two years.

The new Board is normally a combination of current Board members and people new to the Board. The vibrant health of USENIX and the technical strength of its offerings stem substantially from the vigor and vision of its Board. Accordingly, the USENIX Bylaws mandate the appointment of a Nominating Committee, whose charter is to present a strong slate of candidates for the election. (Direct nominations from the membership are also accepted; instructions on how to do this will be posted on the USENIX Web site in December 2009.) The Nominating Committee now solicits suggestions for nominees who are enthusiastic, energetic, responsible, and able to donate an appreciable amount of time to USENIX.

If you are considering offering yourself for election, please keep in mind that membership on the Board of USENIX is real work, never trivial, and a great place to make a difference. You should have fortitude, vision, the ability to work well with others, and a thorough understanding of some topic area that USENIX covers.

So, if you think you might be interested in running or if you have suggestions for nominees or comments on current Board members, please contact us at nominate@usenix.org by November 15, 2009. All correspondence will be held in confidence.

Rémy Evard
Chair, USENIX Nominating Committee
