Goals:

Our work can be understood as an enhancement of the semi-synchronous style of mirroring. The basic idea is to ensure that once a packet has been sent, the likelihood that it will be lost is as low as possible. We do this by sending error recovery data along with the packet and informing the sending application when error recovery has been sent. Further, by exposing link state, an error correcting coding scheme can be tuned to better match the characteristics observed in existing high-speed wide-area networks.
