Eva Galperin, Electronic Frontier Foundation
Abstract:
Last Spring, EFF's Eva Galperin challenged anti-virus companies to take action against stalkerware, a class of software that can be covertly installed on a device and used to spy on communications. Marketing of this software is often aimed at abuses spouses, who use it as a tool to harass, control, and spy on their victims. This talk will cover the latest developments in combating stalkerware, including efforts by security companies, tech giants, academics, and the people who are doing the difficult work of supporting victims of domestic abuse as they try to escape their abusers.
