OSDI '24 Grants for Black Computer Science Students

Please read the information below and review the Grant Instructions and Frequently Asked Questions before proceeding with your grant application. As part of USENIX's ongoing commitment to encourage diversity in advanced computing, we are pleased to offer grants to support Black computer science students interested in attending OSDI '24. All undergraduate or graduate computer science students who are Black, African American, or members of the larger African Diaspora are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Black, African American, or members of the larger African Diaspora
  • Student in computer science or related field
  • Attend the three full days of the main symposium program
  • Agree to be contacted by USENIX and grants program sponsors about future events and opportunities

USENIX is committed to funding the attendance of as many students as possible based on need. However, the grant application process is competitive, and grant awards are not guaranteed. As a small non-profit organization, USENIX has limited grant funding available. Do not apply for a grant if you have other funds available to you, such as through your faculty advisor, or if you have received a grant through USENIX in the past year.

Speakers and presenters at the symposium are not guaranteed registration expense assistance.

Student grants are for advanced students in the field of computer science. Post-doc researchers and associates do not qualify for a student grant. Learn more about the USENIX Grant Program.

Your Supporting Statement is the most important part of your application: it should outline your current research, studies, or employment related to the symposium topics, tell us why attending the event will be beneficial to you, your financial need, and any other relevant information Late applications will not be considered. Successful applicants will need to submit their Social Security Number (SSN), if applicable, to USENIX prior to receiving their grant.
