The Atlanta Linux Showcase (ALS) is pleased to announce that the proceeds from the benefit dinner and T-Shirt sales will go to the Pediatric Oncology Group to help fund their efforts in children's cancer research. The benefit dinner takes place Friday evening, Oct. 15th as the closing evening event of the third annual Atlanta Linux Showcase at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta, Georgia. The Linux Showcase will be held Oct. 12th through Oct. 16th and features tutorials, conference sessions, vendor exhibits and community events.
The benefit dinner is an integral part of the annual Atlanta Linux Showcase technical conference and exhibition that in the past has helped to fund deserving Linux community organizations. This year's dinner features a repeat appearance by Peter H. Salus, author of _A Quarter Century of UNIX_ and editorial director of SSC. He will be joined by Jim Gettys, Phil Hughes, Jon "maddog" Hall, and a surprise guest, to revel the audience with tales of war and heroes from the early days of UNIX(TM). Tickets may be purchased on the ALS registration web page or at on-site registration for $30.00.
In addition to proceeds from the annual dinner event, ALS is donating the profit from T-Shirt sales to the POG. These official ALS shirts are available on-line now from Linux Central (www.linuxcentral.com/products/gear/als/), and will also be available during the showcase at the Linux Central booth.

We are very grateful to ALS for supporting our implementation of the GNU/Linux platform for our remaining mission critical systems. We are also very grateful to the GNU/Linux community for their creation of that platform."

Atlanta Linux Showcase
The Atlanta Linux Showcase is the community's premier technical and community
show organized and run by a group of computer professionals wishing to help
promote Linux. ALS was founded in 1997 and is run entirely by volunteers.
Last years show was the largest Linux event in 1998 drawing its attendees
