Direct Access File Systems
Direct access file systems are providing network file service over memory-to-memory
transports. Section 3.1
introduces DAFS [6],
an emerging commercial standard, and describes its prototype server implementation
for FreeBSD. Section 3.2
introduces Optimistic DAFS, an improved design that relies more on RDMA
and less on RPC for communication but requires special kernel support,
particularly in the virtual memory subsystem.
