U/Win is a development environment created by David Korn. It’s a lot of fun to use. He includes numerous gnu file utilities as well as some basic development tools. To port and compile code, you need the Microsoft Visual C++ package installed.
Michael Frederick described some work he is doing into creating a fast file searching program for NT. It is his goal to develop a quota system for NTFS, but in the mean time, he described some of the guts of NTFS.
Finally, Karl Swartz of Network Appliance reported on a new benchmark tool developed by NetApp to test CIFS performance.
