Till Poser of DESY presented the next WIP, entitled ``Designing Support Infrastructure for a Heterogeneous Scientific Environment''.

One of the problems with supporting PCs is that there are SO MANY KINDS. Any support organization which does not try and control the make and model of the PCs they’re going to support will find themselves drowning in a sea of drivers and updates. It’s not like Macintosh or Sun where most of the hardware is provided by the manufacturer who also provides the OS.
