Abstract:
Small office firewall/VPN

We are investigating methods of using Windows-NT as a firewall and VPN system for providing safe and managable Internet-based connectivity for small remote offices. This solution needs to be innexpensive yet secure and reliable, optionally with an out-of-band modem backup option. ARCO has a range of remote locations which are too small to justify on-site support personnel or leased lines, so ideally the solution should be installable by non-specialiast individuals working with instructions or installation media prepared by a central staff. The solution needs strong encryption yet will need to be deployed worldwide.
