I am working on a prototype high-performance scalable object-relational database system at UW-Madison. Recently, we have included Windows NT as one of the platforms to be supported. Since the original code base was developed entirely in UNIX environment, we are in the process of porting to NT. Our goal is to have a common code base that can be compiled under both environments. At the same time, we are also interested in exploring performance enhancement potentials on the NT platform, including looking at various ways of doing asynchronous I/O and taking advantage of the incoming clustering technology that will be available on NT.
