Abstract:

The Mitsubishi M65433FP ("DART") is an ATM Network Interface Controller chip designed for both high bandwidth and low overhead[1]. Innovative features are direct, protected application access to/from the network, host-assisted flow control, and message processing for flexible low latency communication mechanisms. We expect initial samples and an evaluation board this summer, and are currently developing drivers and evaluation software under Windows NT. We intend eventually to publish quantitative evaluation results, particularly with regard to the unusual features of DART and how they interact with Windows NT kernel-mode device driver architecture.
