We are finding, for commercial reasons, that some of our UNIX based applications are more than ever requiring a broader technological basis. Specifically the instantiation of our products on NT platforms. With this in mind we are planning a number of porting projects. One of the main issues associated with this is the need, as close as possible, to maintain a single source. Many approaches are being considered including packages such as NuTCracker. Other approaches address using a mixture of common and platform specific code. An important consideration for EMC is performance and this will be a key driver in our decision.
