Pace Willisson, Opus Telecom

Abstract:

Opus Telecom makes a telephone call control system that implements features like pre-paid accounts and all sorts of selectable account features and restrictions. We built it on Unix systems, starting back in 1987. The systems are deployed internationally, and we manage them remotely from our US headquarters.

It's a mature system and is very reliable. The core part of it is only a network server - it has no direct user interface. Why would we want to switch to NT? I don't know, but some of my colleagues are convinced that we have to.

So, I'd like to hear about people's experience with moving non-GUI programs from Unix to NT, especially when they will have to be managed remotely.
