The Covid-19 pandemic has given us a unique opportunity to investigate how misinformation narratives spread and evolve around the world. Throughout 2020 and 2021, we conducted regular surveys of over 50 thousand people from a dozen countries about their self-reported exposure to pandemic-related misinformation and their belief in those narratives. This large scale, longitudinal measurement provides a unique lens to understand how misinformation narratives resonate throughout the world, how the belief in these narratives evolves over time, and how ultimately misinformation affects personal health decisions such as vaccination. In this talk, we will share the key insights gleaned throughout this study that in turn help inform efforts to fight multiple types of misinformation.
