Speaker: JR Rivers, Senior Principle Engineer at Amazon Web Services
Operating a massively scaled global network has shattered the "if it ain’t broke, don't fix it" mindset often associated with network upgrades. This talk will discuss some of the characteristics and challenges of the multi-service system Amazon uses to deploy enhancements, bug fixes, and security patches to the network in a way that asymptotically approaches CI/CD. We are now accepting applications for N2Women 1:1 mentoring program - both for mentors and mentees. The deadline for the first round of applications is May 7th and for the second round is in October. The goal of the N2W 1:1 mentoring program is to facilitate forming individualized mentorship between junior researchers and experienced researchers, beyond those available at their institutions. Senior researchers who are willing to share their experiences and knowledge with young researchers should consider becoming mentors. Mentors are encouraged to provide professional advice on research, career choices, scholarship opportunities and networking. An N2Women mentee is a researcher who wants to obtain advice and mentoring from a senior researcher on a direct basis, beyond those available at their institutions.
For more information about the mentorship program and for applying as a mentor or a mentee, visit: https://n2women.comsoc.org/mentoring/n2women-one-to-one-mentoring.
