The Software Assurance Marketplace (SWAMP): A Place to Try Out Your Software Assurance Ideas
Miron Livny and Barton Miller, University of Wisconsin
Wednesday, August 14, 9:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
The SWAMP research facility is a place where designers of software analysis tools can test, evaluate, and improve their tools and techniques; where researchers can test their ideas about software and tools; and where educators can bring their students to learn about software assurance. Funded by the Cyber Security division of the DHS S&T, the SWAMP will provide access to a wide variety of open source software packages and test programs with known weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
For tool designers, it will provide automated continuous evaluation of your tools against these packages and programs, comparison with other tools, and auxiliary software to help automate the application of your tools against software with complex build structures. The SWAMP will offer the necessary compute and storage capacity required to support comprehensive and frequent tests.
For researchers, the SWAMP offers a growing collection of software packages, test suites, and tools to conduct studies.
For educators, the SWAMP facility can be used by instructors and students as part of their course to learn about software assurance in a university, corporate, or government setting.
Come and hear an overview of the SWAMP and how you can get (free) access. And, this is your chance to provide input as to how this facility can better help the research and education community.
