Abstract
This paper describes a method for safe use of the X window system
protocol across a firewall. The approach uses an agent in the
communications stream to enforce an access control policy. Topics
covered include risks, policy, implementation, and a summary of
prototype efforts. Results can be applied to other distributed or
client/server applications.
