For SOUPS 2024, we are excited to have both an in-person and virtual mentoring program associated with the conference:
- The in-person mentoring program will occur during SOUPS and is for attendees of the conference. The sign-up deadline for the in-person mentoring program will be Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
- The virtual mentoring program will run from June 10–21, 2024, and is for everyone—i.e., you don’t need to register for SOUPS to participate. The sign-up deadline for the pre-conference mentoring program will be Monday, May 27, 2024.
Please contact soups24-mentoring@usenix.org if you have any questions.
Pre-Conference Mentoring Program (June 10–21, 2024)
The pre-conference mentoring program is intended to (i) build excitement for the SOUPS conference, (ii) allow mentors and mentees to get to know each other before the conference, and (iii) provide a virtual mentoring experience for those that are unable to attend SOUPS for any reason.
In this program, we will pair up mentors and mentees. These pairs will then schedule a 30-minute, virtual mentoring session to take place during the two weeks of the program. We leave the scheduling up to the participants to maximize flexibility and the likelihood that an acceptable time can be found.
To participate in this program, simply register by May 27, 2024. We will email participants about the pairings on June 10, 2024, and then groups are free to go ahead and start meeting.
Pre-Conference Mentoring RegistrationConference Mentoring Program (August 12–13, 2024)
We will have two mentoring activities at the SOUPS conference. Registration for these activities is required, and the deadline to register for either is July 30, 2024.
Conference Mentoring RegistrationMonday, August 12 (Lunch Tables)
A collection of in-person tables mixing mentors and mentees will be held on the first day of the main conference and be organized by interest and career goals. These tables will have 1–2 mentors, with the rest of the spots reserved for mentees. We will email participants their table assignments the week before the conference.
Tuesday, August 13 (Speed Mentoring)
Short one-on-one speed-mentoring sessions will be held on the second day of the main conference. This event is designed to encourage broader interaction between mentors and mentees. We will email participants their assignments the week before the conference.
